Suggested Changes
Since I can't edit the front page, I have to suggest changes here instead:
- It should be made clearer the Knowledge Base covers history and Reference Material covers the game itself. As it's now that only becomes clear after a visit to those pages.
- It seems that the Crusader Kings wiki link is dead, so it should probably be removed or relinked.

- Good suggestion for the Main Page; I've updated the text to clarify. The CK-link works for me, but I know there have been problems at times with the provider there, so you might've tried it during such a period? Till Havard moves the CKwiki elsewhere, I'll leave the link as it is, even if it doesn't work sometimes – Rafiki (talk) (help) 09:17, 1 October 2007 (CEST)
Someone forgot something major: [[1]]Elryacko 05:36, 14 August 2009 (UTC)
- See my comment at the bottom of this page. Still no link to the HoI3 Wiki... :( --Pal 17:11, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
Knowledge Base
I think we should move the knowledge base to inside the "links" section, as they both offer links to outside sites. Any objections? --User:Musides 14:56, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
- that does indeed seem like a perfectly logical thing to do, description for both also mentions modding, so it's basically the same? BluB 15:44, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, although that does go to a bigger issue. Have you seen the Vicky Mods page (http://www.paradoxian.org/vickywiki/index.php/Mods_and_Modding). Compared to ours... well, our Mods page is a jumble of stuff all on one page. So, I've been wondering how we can improve that as well. I made this a little while ago as a possible index page for the mods section: http://www.paradoxian.org/hoi2wiki/index.php/Mods. The thing is, we have so much material on mods, it deserves its own index of material. What do you think? Should we make links and knowledge base a subset of the mods page perhaps? --Musides 16:14, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
- You are right I guess. But we should keep a separate links page imho. We can however merge the Knowledge Base and modding page into one page, (and add some of the links from links page too) but that would need some extensive thinking, editing, and more thinking. BluB 18:33, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
- Okay, so we will leave Links as is, and merge the Knowledge Base into the Mods section. Before we do that, we should talk about the mods page I made. Can we continue the discussion on that page -- let me know what you think about the format, layout, etc. --Musides 19:25, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
- It looks very good so far I would however suggest working with sub-divisions under the "Complete Mods" part so that you can actually add all the mods on the page, then we should only let those links link to a page about that mod here on the wiki, and that page would include all details + a link to the official site/place to download it etc. I think that way we can add all mods that were on the previous page quite easily there too while keeping an overview. And maybe we also need to find some sort of way to make the difference between all those "General modding guides" a bit more clear. BluB 07:07, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
- Good idea. I was worried that putting the actual mods on the index page would lead to bloat, but if we just list the mods, that should work fine.... just like the strategy guides, for example. --Musides 20:04, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
- Okay, I've made the format changes to the top. Let me know if this looks right. Once we make pages for each mod, I think we'll be able to make the switch over. It should be really nice, the more I think about it -- each mod will have their very own page! I'm sure they'll all really like that. :) Oh, did you see that "info block" I did for some of the mods on the old modding page, about version number, and so on. I'm wondering if there is a way to wikify that, like make it a template or something, for every mod page. What do you think?--Musides 21:57, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
- It all looks better and better. =) And I do like that infobox, but we shouldn't put it too full either or we might have problems filling the rest of the page for some mods, no?
- Also I was thinking, if we could get such an infobox for each mod, maybe we can put it as a mouse-over of the links on the modding page too. (Just a wild suggestion here, i know it's possible in HTML, but I don't know if it's possible in a wiki to make mouse-overs.) BluB 05:29, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
- Hey, let's continue the discussion on the mods talk page: http://www.paradoxian.org/hoi2wiki/index.php/Talk:Mods

About dead links to old other paradox games wikis
I noticed that the text links at the bottom of the page, (not the image links those works fine), are dead. I also noticed that it's caused by vic:, eu2: and eu3: directing links to the old places instead of to http://www.paradoxian.org/wickywiki, http://www.paradoxian.org/eu2wiki and http://www.paradoxian.org/eu3wiki. I would fix them, but I don't know how. --C.N. 07:39, 16 August 2008 (UTC)
- Fixed. I just removed the text-based links, since the image links work fine, and are "smart" image links, so they'll work fine for text based browsers too. --Musides 16:26, 16 August 2008 (UTC)
Make main page like EUIII main page?
Anyone have a look at the EUIII main page? It is a more modern Wiki look than what we presently have. I think we could find a way to fit our structure into that presentation/design. It isn't that big of a change though, so I'm a bit on the fence. What do people think? --Musides 19:50, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
- Well, boxes on the frontpage looks nice, but in a way I think I like the general look of EU2 wiki even more. Not sure why, maybe because boxes in two columns look better than boxes in three columns. Still it's nothing all that important, so just do it if you feel inspired and have a clear vision. --C.N. 21:11, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
- I don't really feel strongly about it -- I'm just "polling" I guess to see if folks have some ideas/desires on this. EUII is certainly the best, but it seems a bit maintenance intensive. But, I'm pretty agnostic about it, so if folks feel strongly one way or another, I'm just putting it out there that I'm willing to make the changes. --Musides 03:45, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
- I also prefer the EU2 wiki look. But I think we really need a "facelift" for the front page. It's too difficult to get to the pages one is interested in. I actually rather like the setup of the German HoI wiki -- the setup, not the overall look. Safferli 09:59, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
- The trouble is, how do you keep everything up to date? The EU2 and EU3 pages are pretty maintenance heavy, and not surprisingly are quite out of date. I think it hurts usability more than it helps when content is not refreshed. That said, feel free to create a draft main page -- that way we'd have something concrete to consider/discuss. --Musides 20:27, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
- The contents of the "boxes" are templates. One just needs to update these templates once in a while. Most of these don't need updating... I'll have some time next week, perhaps I can do a little mock-up somewhere.Safferli 11:38, 22 October 2008 (UTC)

Another HoI wiki
I found this other HoI wiki on wikia. Anyone know who started it? http://heartsofiron.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page
- Interesting, no idea who started it. Too bad to see a duplication of effort however. It seems they don't work on it too much (new files were from 2008 and 2007). I've left the admin a message. --Musides 13:52, 13 January 2009 (UTC)
Link to HoI3 Wiki
Now that the HoI3wiki is online and linked from EU3wiki (and probably others), I wonder why it isn't also linked from here? I don't know how to do that myself, so I just leave you a message :) --Pal 12:23, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for the suggestion. I've added the link. :) --Musides 18:03, 23 August 2009 (UTC)
