Versioning

Europa Universalis 3 (EU3) was originally released in January 2007, and has gone through various versions and expansions. Paradox makes significant changes to gameplay in these version changes, thus an "out of date" wiki article may not be useful for a more current version of the game. All articles on the Wiki strive to have content that accurately depicts the differences between all major game releases. This is done to save historical wiki data that may be useful for players that did not purchase the expansions. Differences between patch levels are not captured/retained, since patches are free and players would have no good reason to be on an older patch level. The Wiki contains four major templates to track how up to date a particular article is:
Europa Universalis III: (EU3) The original game had a series of patches that ended with version 1.3. Articles with this label only address the original game.
Europa Universalis III: Napoleon's Ambition: (EU3 NA) is an expansion for Europa Universalis III, released in August 2007. This game also had a series of patches that ended with version 2.2. Articles with this label address the original EU3 and Napoleon's Ambition.
Europa Universalis III: In Nomine (EU3 IN) is an expansion for Napoleon's Ambition, released in May 2008. This game had a series of patches that ended with version 3.2. Articles with this label only address all expansions, including the separately sold Europa Universalis III: Complete box set, which simply installs all game expansions including In Nomine.
Europa Universalis III: Heir to the Throne (EU3 HTTT) is an expansion for In Nomine or the EU3 Complete compilation, released in December 2009. This game is currently at patch 4.1 with a beta patch 4.1b released for testing.
