Categorising

Good job on categorising all of the many articles we have that lack Categories. Some of my recent edits have included doubtful cat's (such as the ones I've tagged "Reference"), and I was wondering what you think of it. If they're wrong, feel free to change them. King Richard XITalk 21:57, 10 February 2010 (UTC)

I don't think any of your categorizations are 'wrong' per se. Please go on! :) But at the moment, I do feel "Reference" is a rather vague category, with a sort of a leftover/miscellaneous function. Now and then when trying to categorize an article, Reference is the best fit, but still not quite close to ideal. Should probably be improved sometime, but I haven't had any clever ideas about it yet. -- Junuxx (talk) 22:17, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
Well, until you come up with another ingenious thing to help the Wiki, it's the best we have. Perhaps we need some general, all-encompassing category for Paradox things - ie. Game versions and Patches? King Richard XITalk 22:19, 10 February 2010 (UTC)

Once again, congratulations on your efforts on categorising. I'm stunned and amazed to see that you've finished the entire collection of articles that lacked categories - I'm going to make a special award for you to put up on your page some day soon. Congrats and thanks! King Richard XITalk 12:36, 9 March 2010 (UTC)

Well, you've done a fair share of this categorizing project yourself, so congrats to you too! -- Junuxx (talk) 15:07, 9 March 2010 (UTC)

Template

Hey Junuxx -- responded to your message on my 'talk' page; I'm very interested in making a good template. :)--Lacrossa 23:18, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

General shout-out of thanks

Thanks for all your work! It's appreciated :) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Willem de Zwijger (talk • contribs). Date: 9 March 2010.

You're welcome! 8) -- Junuxx (talk) 15:07, 9 March 2010 (UTC)

Research page cleanup

Hey Junuxx -- I've re-done the Research page quite a bit, adding LaTeX formulae which are all way too big for most people's monitors. ;) Can you help me clean this up? I added a lot of discussion and, randomly, did a lot of experimenting and came up with the exact Tech Cost formula (the previous one was an approximation). So I changed that as well. Lacrossa 02:17, 13 March 2010 (UTC)

Proposed Convention Change

Hey Junuxx, do you agree with this? -- the standard 'convention' on the wiki for pages with compound words as titles is "This page", with the second word uncapitalized. That's REALLY DRIVING ME NUTS. :) What do you think about changing it to "This Page"?

And should we put together some sort of 'wiki conventions' page for people who want to edit in the future? Lacrossa 18:13, 17 March 2010 (UTC)

(I posted this same thing on Richard's talk page since you guys are the main 'keepers of the flame' :)

I don't know.. Would that include 'How To Contain Or Defeat France' and 'Trigger Events Manually'? Or only capitalize proper nouns, as in 'Sole Defender of the Faith? Frankly I prefer 'List of mods' over 'List Of Mods'. But it does depend on the context; in some situations more caps might look nicer. And besides, reorganizing/renaming everything will be an awful lot of work for a small improvement. One thing I do agree on is explicitly defining a convention though. It could be included in the Style Guide. -- Junuxx (talk) 19:19, 17 March 2010 (UTC)

Thx

Hello,

thank you for correcting my spelling on Turkish Missions, and forgive my mistakes, my mother tongue is not English (I'll try and use a spell-checker next time). As for categories, when you redirect on it, use ":" to avoid loops like the one in root cat ([1]). And I rather use to order category's main article under a "*" to make it appear on top, and cat-related tools under "+", like I did in Category:Missions; does that method suits you or is this wiki used to doing otherwise?

Yours Wikily (can I coin such words in English? ) --Klymene 20:09, 17 March 2010 (UTC)

Hi Klymene, don't worry too much about your spelling. I think the effort was good, and after all we're here on a wiki to improve the content together, aren't we? I do like the mission template. I think I'll help implement it in existing mission articles. As for the category changes, I totally approve of them. I was vaguely aware of those syntax options (like the anti-loop ":") but had half forgotten about them. -- Junuxx (talk) 23:12, 17 March 2010 (UTC)

Event list

Hello, I have dropped a proposition on Talk:Events concerning the events list. You seemed interested by the issue as you left once a message there. Yours. --Klymene 18:40, 23 March 2010 (UTC)

"A bold proposition"

Hey Junuxx -- I posted a suggestion on Rafiki's talk page about making a big change to the 'community'-ness of the wiki. Very interested in your opinion, so plz consider & respond when you can :) Cheers, Lacrossa 04:41, 28 March 2010 (UTC)

Rist

Some typo! How the author managed to mix up letters half a keyboard away, I'll never know... King Richard XITalk 08:40, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

Templates

You may have noticed I had a great time around the template namespace these last days. Talking about it I have a good new and a bad new for you. Which shall I begin with? The good one? Ok. Then I made a stable {{Infobox}} (t) template, which has also a clean code, style (to my opinion), and most of all genericity (to recreate other infoboxes through it). The bad new is I deleted all your work on {{Infobox Mod}} (t) because of the generic infobox implementation. I'm sorry for you, but as apologies I did it to let old parameters still valid, and I documented it. Yours. --Klymene 02:13, 11 April 2010 (UTC)

CSS issues

Hello. King Richard XI and I have seen on User talk:Lacrossa/TestPage that Lacrossa wanted a collapsing navbox; but I think it's not working yet because of an undefined CSS class. That would be nice if you could add it there MediaWiki:Common.css from the talk page. I also made other suggestions that I found useful, please take it into consideration. Yours. --Klymene 15:20, 6 May 2010 (UTC)

Edit: by the way, thanks for the useless pages deleting, I have more for you here; some of them were created by you so please check usefulness, and delete if needed (or write short line of doc if kept), and edit my work page if you wish.--Klymene 15:47, 6 May 2010 (UTC)

Edit2: Hmm I forgot the link to the page; in fact most of my list is redirects, it's maybe worth keeping for future plans, up to you.--Klymene 14:21, 11 May 2010 (UTC)

Hi! Since I'm just a moderator here I have just as little access to the wiki CSS as you have. You'll have to drop a line to Rafiki for this matter, I think. As for the other useless pages, I think I have now completed cleaning up all the garbage :) Regards, -- Junuxx (talk) 17:04, 6 May 2010 (UTC)
You got me confused: I thought you were sysop because of Special:ListUsers|group=sysop. Anyway I'm not a MediaWiki professional this page maybe only available from local access or whatever I don't know. --Klymene 14:21, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
Yeah well that ListGroupRights page lists "Administrators" and "Bureaucrats". Wiki is kinda odd in it's terminology, "Administrators" correspond to what most forums would call moderators, and "Bureaucrats" to what's usually called admins. Edit: oh wait, it also said I should be able to edit the CSS? Then I'll have to look into that :D -- Junuxx (talk) 20:25, 11 May 2010 (UTC)

Flag pages for deletion

I haven't a clue how to stick the Delete template onto a Redirect page - not sure if it'll work or not. could you please delete How to win with a one-province European minor and its associated talk page? Nothing links to them anymore, so we'll have no broken link problems now. Thanks in advance, King Richard XITalk 06:23, 11 May 2010 (UTC)

Done! I think the delete template should also work on redirect pages btw, although I understand your hesitation. Regards, -- Junuxx (talk) 10:57, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
I know it's possible to put category markups on redirections so I think you can put whatever content, just the redirect code has to stay on the very first line to work. To link to a redirect, use {{fullurl:<wiki-link>|redirect=no}}.--Klymene 14:21, 11 May 2010 (UTC)

Vote Junuxx 2010!

Seriously though, is it too forward to petition for you to be made a full-fledged Administrator? I've nothing against Rafiki, but his activity level at this point in time is not very high (and a quick contribution check shows he's been inactive for the last two months; there's also a gap last year from April '09 - December '09 which I hope we're not in the midst of now :) ). I've had a quite busy run of things the last two months, but I've some free time in the next few weeks and I'd wanted to be a hyper-active contributor again. I do need the CSS and JS patches, though, as I think that would make quite a difference. And you're just the candidate for the patching job ;) Lacrossa 06:15, 14 May 2010 (UTC)

Hi, thanks a bunch for the support! :D Although the css problem seems to have been solved, there's a few semirelated points I'd like to bring up here.
1) I think it might be useful if some of the current frequent contributors (i.e., you, Klymene, King Richard XI.. ) would join me as sysops/admins/moderators/whatever it's called. Since you're all active, knowledgeable and (by now :P) trusted contributors, I think this would speed up some of those situations where you have to wait for my approval/edits/deletions.
2) I arrived here during that gap in mid/late '09, and the wiki was very dead back then. In fact there were no (semi-)daily contributors except for me for some time, which is probably why I got this function. In other words I'm just a guy like you who happened to arrive here 6 months earlier. Fortunately the wiki is much more alive now.
3) I'm not sure whether Rafiki is inclined to promote anyone to the 'bureaucrat' status. They get only slightly more rights, but I'd fully understand and respect it if the owner of the site would rather keep this to people he actually knows IRL.
4) Even if I were promoted to bureaucrat, I couldn't solve the AWB issue as it depends on the external configuration of the wiki.
Hope that clarifies the situation somewhat. -- Junuxx (talk) 12:50, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
Despicable Rebel Scum Award
Congratulations!
Rebel Scum in action
You just have been awarded the
Despicable Rebel Scum Award
for outstandingly rich contribution,
for your understanding Admin job,
and for granting me your trust
.
★★★ Noble Rebel ★★★You now have the Noble Rebel rank in the Award scale.

I'm sorry if that looks ugly (I did it once in a rush, it's supposed to be humorous btw); but it is heartily awarded. --Klymene 16:37, 14 May 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the kind words, it looks terrific! -- Junuxx (talk) 16:56, 14 May 2010 (UTC)

'King Richard XI.. ) would join me as sysops/admins/moderators ' - I won't stop you. :D I heartily support the idea of you as an admin, and congratulations on your award. King Richard XITalk 21:35, 14 May 2010 (UTC)

Your Opinion

Hi Junuxx, as you seem to be the most active user and also seem to have a quite clear cut picture, where this wiki should be going, I wanted to ask for your opinion on an article I would like to create: As can be extracted from the texts I wrote, I am interested mainly in unusual scenarios that are quite far from the ordinary gaming experience of EU3. I would like to write an article that describes a number of unusual self posed challenges that may make the game fun for those who don't feel it holds a challenge for them any more. Do you think such a list of "self posed scenarios" is unwanted here or should I just start a draft? Cheers, Apostate 11:09, 23 May 2010 (UTC)

Heya, sorry for the delay, thought I had replied to this a while ago. It sounds like a good idea and possibly an interesting addition. But do make sure to approach it in such a way that it won't become an infinite list by continuous additions of other weird things one could do. Anyway, don't hesitate to go ahead! -- Junuxx (talk) 06:31, 10 July 2010 (UTC)
I started a draft in User:Apostate/Challenges. If you like and can spare the time I would be glad for comments and suggestions. -- Apostate 21:50, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
