BS on pagan can't re annex providences

I don't know if this is AI only or what, but the AI if it gets around my troops re-annexes their former providences.

Diplo-annexing other religious groups

It does not appear to be true that (to quote the article) "you can only diplo-annex a country if it's the same religion group as you." Playing as France, I managed to vassalize and diplo-annex most of the Muslim nations of north-west Africa (Morocco, Algiers, and Tripoli). I had an easier time diplo-annexing them than I did with Provence, for what it's worth.... – Seancdaug 18:42, 15 May 2008 (CEST)

What version are you running? The diplo-annex religion group limitation was added in patch 1.2.

Maintenance = Research?

Somebody wrote "You don't get any reinforcements (and don't repair ships) at all if you have maintenance set to 0. If you do that, you spend less money on maintenance but lose out on Land/Naval research." I've never heard of maintenance affecting research, and don't see anything to this effect in the tooltips for maintenance or research... is it true??
