Several suggestions

  1. Full-protect this page.
  2. A generic Europa Universalis III article that basically explains what EU3 is, its vitalstatistix, new features and patch changes.
  3. 3 main categories of focus:
  1. Concepts - to explain revolt risk, casus belli, tech group and other game concepts and calculations
  2. Strategy - includes both generic topical strategy guides (eg. beginners' guide, colonisation guide) and specific national guides (eg. France strategy, Ming strategy)
  3. Modding - for modding tutorials, resources/utilities and links to mods

Sounds good to me. Havard 21:31, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
Would anyone object if I got rid of the 4 boxes in the middle, replacing it with a EU3 introduction paragraph at the top (with a picture), followed by 3 columns - Concepts, Strategy and Modding - then followed by "community links" and/or sister projects on the left? Miborovsky 21:45, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
Not at all. I just nicked the setup from some other wiki before thinking too much on what is needed. Based on your setup suggestion above this makes more sense. Havard 21:57, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
Done. I work with a widescreen monitor and it fits perfectly, could someone with a normal monitor examine it and see if there's anything particularly bad? (Like tables not matching up, picture too small, lopsided text, etc.) Miborovsky 00:14, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
Looks fine on my 1280*1024 Havard 00:20, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
Can you lower your resolution to 1024*768 and look again? I have a 1440x900 so I need to know how it looks on low-res monitors. Miborovsky 00:38, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
Looks good at 1024*768 too. Havard 00:48, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
OK thanks. Miborovsky 00:57, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
Remember, you can always resize your borwser window to test it in lower resolutions. ;) In IE, I suggest IE Developer Toolbar, in Firefox Web Developer Toolbar. Each of these have resize function to quickly and precisely resize your browser window to desired resolution. --Lord Ederon 03:48, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

Can I ask a passing mod (Junuxx?) to add the page to the Category:EU3 Wiki? King Richard XITalk 22:40, 24 February 2010 (UTC)

You got it! -- Junuxx (talk) 03:26, 27 February 2010 (UTC)

Intra-wiki linking

I'll set up links from the main pages at the Vicky-, HOI2- and EU2-wikis tomorrow. Due to the way Rythin has set up EU2WIki, it'll be using the logo hosted here; is that OK? For the other two, I'll upload the logo to the wikis and use them locally there. Rafiki 21:37, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

Sure. And we'll add links the other way. I need to sort out that CK wiki (database problem)... Havard 21:59, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
Done. :) Rafiki 10:14, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
Sorted Havard 15:17, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
The Vicky-, EU2- and HOI2-wikis have now moved to paradoxian.org, if you'd like to update the Main Page links here :-) Rafiki 00:14, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
Can we get it so that the images that link to the other wikis actually link to the wikis instead of to the jpgs themselves? --Strand 22:56, 19 March 2009 (UTC)

1.3?

Perhaps add 1.0 for Nappy?

Yes. We should have more about NA generally... Havard 16:55, 3 October 2007 (CEST)

Problem with pix?

Hi, I just uploaded [1] and tried making an inset on Advisors. It gives an error. This approach worked for me on other wikis. What's wrong? Thanks -RedKnight7 07:36, 17 May 2008 (CEST)

Anyone? -RedKnight7 17:33, 25 May 2008 (CEST)
Do we have any live wiki ops around? -RedKnight7 03:26, 12 July 2008 (CEST)

Email notifications

Hi folks, I'm not getting email notifications when a page on my watchlist is edited. Is this functionality disabled? I don't see it under my preferences... normally it's on the user profile tab. Thanks -RedKnight7 22:38, 26 May 2008 (CEST)

Are there Sysops around?

I'd like to ask that we rename the Annex page to Force Annex. But I haven't gotten a reply on questions above. Should the circle of ops be increased? (I'm not asking for it, though.) -RedKnight7 04:39, 14 June 2008 (CEST)

I'm not sure there are sysops active on this wiki anymore. There was a discussion on the Community Portal page about this a few months ago, and no one really volunteered. I'm a sysop for the HOI2 wiki, so would be happy to help someone with an interest to get things in order here. One thing I'd like to see you guys do is adopt the versioning system we use for the HOI2 wiki: you need to be able to label pages that apply to EU3 vanilla, or NA, or IN, or "EU3 Complete" (e.g. discuss changes in all versions). Anyway, if someone is willing to step up and do the work, I think it could be arranged. --Musides 19:44, 10 November 2008 (UTC)
I'm now a sysop and I've made the move. --Musides 02:58, 21 April 2009 (UTC)

In Nomine update

I added a big list of In Nomine features. Can we get this added to the front page, as the current version? Jme 02:52, 8 October 2008 (UTC)

Done. --Musides 02:58, 21 April 2009 (UTC)

Major wiki revisions

Hi Everyone, I've started to make some major revisions to the wiki in an attempt to reorganize and consolidate information. Please join in to help out! :) --Musides 16:51, 8 December 2008 (UTC)

Main Page update

I have completed re-organizing the main page. I hope this new structure is easier to use and will be conducive towards continued efforts at reorganizing the Wiki. This new format reduces the links by half. --Musides 02:58, 21 April 2009 (UTC)

A Comment: The description of the link to the mods page:
"Complete listing of all playable EU3 Mods " - This is not true to the slightest degree. --Urza 07 July 2009
Fixed! Hopefully folks will add more of the mods that are out there so that, at some point, it can be a comprehensive listing. --Musides 01:58, 10 July 2009 (UTC)
Might be nice to change 'In Nominee' to 'In Nomine'. :) - Phoenix 10:20, 11 September 2009 (UTC)
Fixed. --Musides 13:57, 11 September 2009 (UTC)

number of countries

The main page introduction mentions 282 countries, but my 3.2 beta countries folder surely has 313 files in it. -- Junuxx 16:43, 11 October 2009 (UTC)

Fixed. --Musides 02:32, 13 October 2009 (UTC)

HttT

Very minor problem on the homepage:

"The game has had three releases, each providing substantial improvements:

  • Europa Universalis III (1/2007)
  • Napoleon's Ambition (8/2007)
  • In Nomine (5/2008)
  • Heir to the Throne (12/2009)"

I believe that that should either say 4 releases (in which case it would also include Complete and Collectors' Editions) or 3 expansions. Not a biggy, but It caught my eye in passing and I felt it had to be mentioned. King Richard XI 18:27, 8 December 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for pointing that out. Fixed. --Musides 20:05, 8 December 2009 (UTC)

Featured Articles

Given that we now have a grading system, are we going to have Featured Articles up on the main page for all to see? It makes sense to do it, as it would encourage editors to strive for an achievement "Yeah, I did most of that article" and basically lets people see where the Wiki is best. Thoughts? King Richard XITalk 20:04, 18 January 2010 (UTC)

Let's postpone that until we actually have a few featured articles :P But besides that, good idea! -- Junuxx (talk) 21:03, 18 January 2010 (UTC)

EU3 complete suggestion

This suggestion was on my user page, but I want to open it up to more comments/suggestions to see what others think:

A common source of confusion on the EU3 forums is whether or not Complete is indeed complete. I think it would help if the wiki had a clarification on its main page. Here is the code I'm thinking of.

Europa Universalis III

EU3 Box

Europa Universalis III is a grand strategy game by Paradox Interactive, covering a period of time from 1399 to 1822. Players can choose from 313 nations to play, and the game has significant differences from EU2. The game has had four releases and one compilation, each providing substantial improvements:

The second bullet somewhat ruins the brevity of the original, but it makes the incompleteness of Complete abundantly clear and I think that is more important that aesthetics. I have also updated the picture to show Heir to the Throne's box art rather than Complete's, which further eliminates confusion.
Rhadamanthys 03:06, 8 January 2010 (UTC)
I think it's an improvement. However, 1822 should be 1821. -- Junuxx (talk) 22:23, 19 January 2010 (UTC)
