There are several sources of income:

  1. Annual Income - consisting of census tax and added to the treasury every January 1st
  2. Monthly Income - income from taxes, trade, production and gold used for monthly technology investment or minting
  3. Tariff income - for In Nomine, income from overseas provinces
  4. Special income - resulting from the gameplay; examples include income from events or peace deals
