This article is supposed to provide basic information needed to start with EU3 Wiki. If you are looking for more in-depth information about operating Wiki (either reading or contributing), check the MediaWiki User's Guide.
[edit] Best practices
Wiki is vital concept of user-made source of shared knowledge. To let you and the others enjoy its benefits to the highest possible extent, try to work in accordance with EU3 Wiki guidelines and best practices presented here.
[edit] Editing Articles
- If you are not sure about your intentions and how to combine them with original poster's ones, open talk (discussion) about it before taking actual action.
- Always use 'Show preview' and re-read your additions/edits before saving your changes. Save only final and complete version you intended to add/edit. It helps to keep Recent changes summary lot more readable.
- NOTE: It doesn't mean you should work out complete article before submitting it here. Just try to put all your edits you intended to submit during your one single 'shift' at EU3 Wiki together before saving.
- When editing article, provide short description of edits you made in 'Summary' text box. It should be short and descriptive.
- When you just reformatted article, corrected typos and grammar mistakes or made other minor changes of this kind, check 'This is minor edit' check box to let others know that you, well, actually made just minor changes. :)
[edit] Redirecting
Since Wiki is complete case sensitive, try to make pages redirect them to the same words which start with a capital. Domestic polices (if you make that one) should then be edited to be redirected to Domestic Polices by editing it with : " #REDIRECT [[Domestic Polices]] ". Bad boy to Bad Boy and so on. This rule will make it easier and more or less prevent double, triple,... entries. You're allowed to write them in your own way, but make sure you redirect them to the page where each word its first letter is a capital (except them for words like "on, of, the, a, ...").
