Welcome to the EUIII Wiki Community Portal!

On this page, we will list some guidelines to keep in mind when contributing to the Wiki. If you are not sure how a wiki works, check out the MediaWiki User Guide. If you are wondering about Wiki Policy, ask on this page's talk page.

[edit] General guidelines

  • Game terms: When you are writing about something from the game, use the same name/term as is used ingame and in the manual. That makes it a lot easier to find.
  • Capitalisation: Article names are case sensitive, so "This Page" is not the same as "This page". Wiki standard is to only capitalize the first word of an article name (Naval unit types), unless it's a name (Paradox Interactive).
  • Be sure: If you are not sure how things work, don't guess! Either verify it, or leave it out. If you can't verify, or are uncertain, make a comment on the talk page instead.

[edit] Talk pages

These pages can be accessed for all articles through the 'discussion' tab at the top. Do not be afraid to add comments on, or create new, talk pages. Please keep this in mind, though:

  • Sign your comments: The easiest way to do this is to end your comment with four tildes (~~~~). This will automatically insert your user name
  • Indent: To make it easier to read, add your reply right below the comment you are responding to. Use colons (:) at the start of the line to indent the text. Always use one more than the post you reply to.
  • Don't delete: It is poor form to delete other people's comments. If you disagree, add a reply.
  • Headers: If you want to start a new discussion, use headers (==<topic header>==). This can easily be accomplished by clicking the "+" to the right of "edit" rather than "edit" itself.

[edit] Navigation templates

We have started experimenting with navigational templates. The first is one for Forms of Government, as can be seen on the bottom of all their separate pages. If anyone have good suggestions of where similar navigation tools would be handy, please chime in on the talk page.
