Colonists
From EU3 Wiki
Colonists are the people you need to build colonies. Each country can have up to five colonists "in stock", but can not keep any more in reserve. Colonists are the second from left of the five "heads" at the top of the screen.
The number of colonists you get each year depends on several factors:
- Religion.
- Domestic policy sliders, specifically the Mercantilism vs. Free Trade and Innovative vs. Narrowminded sliders.
- The Colonial Ventures national idea.
- Colonial governors being employed as advisors.
In addition to the above, colonists may be gained through events, or the gain rate may be adjusted by certain triggered modifiers.
The rate in which those good events giving additional colonists fire is dependant on having or not having the Colonial Ventures national idea. So it is far more useful than it would seem on first glance.
