This is a country event in which One receives a naval bonus.


The following conditions must be met for the event to fire:

  • One has as least 25 cities.
  • One has the National idea, Colonial Ventures.
  • One does not have the National idea, Naval Glory
  • One has discovered North or South America.


The mean time to happen for this event is 264 months.

  • Having a conquistador decreases MTTH by 10%.
  • Having an explorer decreases MTTH by 10%.
  • The national idea, Viceroys decreases MTTH by 10%.
  • A level 1 or 2 artist increases MTTH by 10%.
  • Stability of 2 decreases MTTH by 10%.
  • Stability of 3 decreases MTTH by 20%.
  • Stability of -1 increases MTTH by 10%.
  • Stability of -2 increases MTTH by 20%.
  • Stability of -3 increases MTTH by 30%.


Option 1: Invest in the naval force

  • The AI has a 50% chance of selecting this option.
  • Set Country Modifier, "Naval Improvements" for 120 days with the following effects:
    • Naval Tech investment is increased by 20.
    • Naval Tech cost modifier is decreased by 2%.
    • Big and Light ship costs are decreased by 5%.


Option 2: Abandon the idea of naval supremacy

  • The AI has a 50% chance of selecting this option.
  • Set Country Modifier, "Naval Disarmament" for 120 days with the following effects:
    • Land Tech investment is increased by 8.
    • Naval Tech investment is decreased by 20.
    • Naval Tech cost modifier is increased by 2%.
