Abbreviations

Here is an alphabetical list of abbreviations and terms used in Europa Universalis 3 and by its players.

General EU terms

AAR   = After Action Report

ADM   = Administrative rating of a ruler

AE or AEM  = Administrative Efficiency Modifier

ART or ARTY   = Artillery

BB   = Badboy

CAV   = Cavalry

CB   = Casus Belli

COA   = Coat of Arms

COT   = Centre of Trade

CTA   = Call to Arms

DEF   = Defensiveness (fort defensiveness specifically), or 'defense', or 'definitely'

DIP   = Diplomatic rating of a ruler

disc   = Discipline

DOW or DoW  = Declaration of War (Can be used as a noun or as a verb in the sense of 'attack' or 'invade')

GC   = Grand Campaign

HYW   = Hundred Years War

IA   = Imperial Authority

INF   = Infantry

MIL   = Military rating of a ruler

MoM   = Master of Mint advisor

NI   = National Idea

OPM   = One Province Minor ( 2PM   = 2 Province Minor)

PE or PE%   = Production Efficiency (percentage)

PTI   = Permanent Terra Incognita

PU   = Personal Union

RM   = Royal Marriage

RR  ,  RR%   = Revolt Risk (percentage)

stab   = stability

stab hit   = losing a stab level

stab hitting   = lowering someone elses stab lvl (usually by them refusing a good peace deal)

TE or TE%   = Trade Efficiency (percentage)

TI   = Terra Incognita

TL   = Trade League

TPM   = Two- or three- Province Minor

WC   = War Capacity, or World Conquest

WE   = War Exhaustion

WP   = White Peace

WS   = War Score

dmg   = damage

FoW   = Fog of War (areas where you can't see what is happening)

gfx   = graphics

mod   = modification

MP   = multiplayer or manpower

RTFM   = Read The F'ing Manual

tac   = tactic

UI   = User Interface

vanilla   = unmodified version of the game, or EU3 1.X, 2.X, 3.2, or 4.0

NA   = Napoleon's Ambition, the first expansion pack

IN   = In Nomine, the second expansion pack (requires the first one)

HttT, HT or HT³   = Heir to the Throne, the third expansion pack (requires both NA and IN,or Complete)

Complete   = EU:3 complete, the 'gold edition': EU:3 with its first two expansion packs

HoI   = Hearts of Iron (the 1st version, or any version depending on the user)

HoI2   = Hearts of Iron 2

HoI3   = Hearts of Iron 3

Vicky   or  V1  = Victoria (1)

V2   = Victoria 2

Ricky   = 'Revolutions' expansion pack for Victoria (1)

EU:R   = Europa Universalis: Rome

VV   = 'Vae Victis', expansion pack for EU:R

CK   = Crusader Kings

EU2   = Europa Universalis 2

Dip   = Diplomacy

CE   = Collector's Edition, a special edition of vanilla, not to be confused with Complete
