From Fremen

Hello Rythin.

Hello.

I'm Fremen from the EU2 forum :), I have have some questions\suggestions for you:

1. GREAT JOB: I like very much your EU2Wiki idea, you've done an outstanding job and you undeniable demonstrated that you are an real EU2 fan. That's why I want to contribute also to this, so:

2. EXISTING PAGES: Can I really edit any page here in EU2Wiki? Can I just add information or also can I modify, delete, etc? Also, how can you be sure of the people's integrity when changing? Is there any policy\methods for not allowing deliberately delete, etc? I promise that I'll read all wiki's materials in this respect, but please, maybe you can give me a short summary...

You can't delete the existing pages (only admins can do so and I am by now the only admin) but you can edit namely everything (apart from the pages I have blocked from editing, but they concern on organizational stuff, thus are not related to game-content stuff). Of course if some idiot came he could edit all the text out leaving just a blank page, there is, however, a history system in the wiki enabling me to restore the previous version of the article.
You can easily modify all the content from the site by clicking 'edit' button at the top (but you know that, because you left me a message here).

3. NEW PAGES: Same question: Can I create any new page, anywhere, etc.?

Of course, bear in mind however, that this site should be foundable, thus I suggest linking it from existing articles (if you, for example, create 'Manpower' article, search for 'manpower' in all our articles (using the search form) and link them to your creation). You link things by writing [[The_name_of_article|The caption that appears on the site]], like [[Policy sliders|DP sliders]]. You can create a page by reaching it through your navbar. If you want to create a page 'Paradox', enter http://dhost.info/arsud/mediawiki-1.4rc1/index.php/Paradox and click 'edit'. Simple.

4. FILES attached: For example I have a nice Excel file with all the leaders and monarchs from 1.08, with all their dates per columns: name, country, startdate, finishdate, ranking, etc. The file can easily be used to compare monarchs\leaders in certain periods, to see for a given country what are the next leaders, to compare rankings, ADM/DIP/MIL values, etc. I want to put the file on EU2Wiki, to be used by all other EU2 fans. How can I do that?

You can't upload any files on EU2wiki's server. You can, however, upload it somewhere else (like your priv ftp account) and link it from Eu2wiki page.

5. GOLD ARTICLE: I've seen that you mentioned "DP sliders" page as a "Gold Article". Although it is very good, I still think that can be improved. I want to add for example, for each slider, a table with all the effects for each slider value. How can I do that? Also I noticed that only you voted for it. How can I vote also? Why there are no other votes (lol)?

Well, there are no other votes, because I create this announcement just two days ago. You can vote by editing this page and signing yourself in suitable place, by typing ~~~~. It will generate your nickname and a date. If you want to add a table, simply do so by editing Policy Sliders page. If you don't know how to do that, read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Tutorial

6. COPYRIGHT: This refers also to all points till now: All my edits are automatically "tagged" with my nickname? By tagged I mean that is there anywhere a place in which it says that this information was posted by X? I don't really care too much about that, and I don't want any rights or whatever for what I add, but I just want that in some place to be remembered by nickname also. If this is not custom to what Wiki means, forget about it, I'll contribute anyway.

All the edits are listed in the history site (you reach it by clicking 'history' just next to 'edit'). Bear in mind however that all the content posted on this site that isn't owned by Paradox is released under the GNU Free Documentantation License (Eu2wiki:Copyrights).

Thank you in advance and hope to be of any help. Fremen

Letter of Introduction

Hello Rythin,

I really enjoyed reading the info on your site. I just got hooked on this game recently, so I guess I'm far behind on knowledge.

Is this website still active though? I hope I can be of any help in the future.

Good luck and talk to you soon!

Daimyo...

Spam, "wonderful" spam

Hi Rythin

I see you are having some occurences of spamming. If I may offer some advice, since I installed the SpamBlacklist extension and added the following to Localsettings.php:

$wgSpamRegex="/<div/";

there have been no problems with spam at either HOI2Wiki nor VickyWiki :)
